Da Vinci pursues three objectives: (1) deliver ground-breaking research that links state-of-the-art organoid, single-cell, spatial omics and imaging platforms with cutting-edge AI and deep learning; (2) provide fellows with long, stable and attractive postdoctoral careers in Europe through five-year, multi-mentor fellowships with strong data stewardship, open-science and ethics training; and (3) strengthen Europe’s capacity in quantitative life sciences by creating durable links between IMBA, European universities, research infrastructures, hospitals and biotech/AI companies. The objectives will be achieved through an AI-Enabled Iterative Science approach in which AI models guide experimental design, structured secondments to academic and non-academic partners, and a comprehensive training and career-development programme aligned with the European Charter for Researchers and the reform of research assessment.
