Ultralow power ferroelectric spintronic components for logic and artificial intelligence

CORDIS · observation · Publication date unknown

Ultralow power ferroelectric spintronic components for logic and artificial intelligence UPSPRING aims to reduce the energy consumption of microelectronics chips by a factor of 1000, to unlock their performance potential. This energy consumption is both an environmental problem and a crucial industrial issue, as the associated heating is nowadays the limiting factor of the performance of the chips. Nellow is a company targeting the market of microelectronic chips for logic operations and artificial intelligence (AI), thanks to the invention of a new type of component with ultra-low energy consumption: the FerroElectric Spin-Orbit (FESO) device. Protected by a portfolio of more than 5 patents, FESO results from 15 years of collaboration between two world-leading research institutions in new microelectronic solutions: the Spintec laboratory (CEA Grenoble, Univ. Grenoble Alpes & CNRS) and the Albert Fert laboratory (Paris-Saclay). This technology has th
